Apple Watch vs. Fitbit Sense: How to Choose the Best for Yourself

Apple has won the wearable industry because of the Apple Watch, but another company that once seemed to be synonymous with fitness and wearables has lost its popularity and that is Fitbit. Fitbit was very famous for its fitness watch and there it lost to Apple Watch but it is making a comeback and that is why we decided to compare the two and see which one wins!

Apple Watch

Let’s Check Out Both the Smartwatches Individually

Apple Watch

Apple Watch

Apple Watch is a full-fledged smartwatch series from Apple. The series began with the Apple Watch 1. Apple Watch has revolutionized the smartwatch industry, and in the case of smartwatches, it is considered an industry standard.

Apple’s smartwatches are often considered the gold standard when it comes to accuracy, so much so that people have been reported to be safe from heart attacks because the Apple Watch can detect irregular rhythms in advance. Apple recently released the Apple Watch Series 7 and SE, which comes with lots of features. In this article, we will look at Series 7 in particular as we compare flagship smartwatches of both brands.

Series 7

The Series 7 is a shiny new flagship Apple Watch that boasts an almost bezel-less design and has some great techniques on the sleeves. The Apple Watch Series 7 comes with Apple’s latest and greatest smartwatch processor. The Series 7 screen is 20% larger than the Series 6 and is also crystal crack resistant.

Apple Watch

The Series 7 also has an IP6X rating and is supposedly better built than the 6 Series. The smartwatch can give you an ECG in 30 seconds even though it is not considered a medical device in any way. All the common sensors like SPO2, Altimeter, Magnetometer are all present in the watch.

Apple Watch

One area where Apple watches have gone bad is sleep tracking. The Apple Watch can’t track sleep because the Apple Watch’s Slip app is an alarm app to be honest. The lack of slip tracking has been a constant complaint about Apple Watch for years now and it also hit the Series 7.

Although recently Fitbit has started to transform this image of itself from just a fitness watch to a full-fledged smartwatch and with that in mind today we will look at Fitbit Sense which is a competitor to Fitbit’s flagship smartwatch.

Fitbit Sense

Apple Watch

Fitbit Sense is the latest and greatest from Fitbit. Like the Apple Watch, the Fitbit Sense really boasts accurate sensors and great workout tracking. Fitbit Sense is a great friend for those who want to track every metric of their health and now it also offers the ability to receive calls and reply to WhatsApp messages which is a big plus.

Apple Watch

Fitbit Sense also leads the slip tracking section of things and measures more detailed information like deep sleep and REM sleep and offers users a score to measure sleep quality. Sense also offers lots of smart features like receiving calls (you need to set it up as a Bluetooth audio device) and receiving text messages.

Apple Watch

Something different from the Apple Watch is the temperature sensor and the EDA sensor. Now people are speculating that a temperature sensor on the Apple Watch is coming soon but Fitbit is here with it first. However, the EDA sensor is an industry first and allows the Fitbit Sense to better detect your stress level.

Apple Watch

EDA refers to electrodermal activity tracking (a fancy term for galvanic skin response) where EDA sensors are designed to measure your hand sweat, which can be a marker for stress. Fitbit Sense also comes with fast charging and long battery life and can last you 24 hours on just 12 minutes of charge.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Accurate Health Tracking
  • NFC Pay Ability
  • Amazing Sleep Tracking
  • EDA tracking
  • Temperature tracking
  • Cross compatibility between Android and iOS
  • Competitive Pricing

Cons

  • No actual app support
  • Limited smart functions
  • ECG is limited to a few countries

The Apple Watch Series 7 is actually a fully functional smartwatch between the two because the Fitbit Sense has only a limited number of smart capabilities that are much more lacking than the Apple Watch. The Apple Watch Series 7 comes with a digital crown that is much better and more sensitive than the Sense’s Haptic button.

Apple Watch

The Series 7 has a better UI, and the Apple Watch’s processor flies through everything compared to the Fitbit Sense. Fitbit has better sensors and even a few sensors unlike the Apple Watch Series 7 temperature sensor and EDA sensor, both of which are suitable for a holistic approach to health tracking. 7 miles ahead of sleep tracking in Fitbit Sense Apple Watch and it’s a big plus. Let’s not forget that the Apple Watch is limited in compatibility where Fitbit Sense is much more compatible than it is in iOS and Android.

Apple Watch

Verdict

The Fitbit Sense is a more value-for-money smartwatch with a bigger focus on health tracking than everything else. However, as a fully functioning Smartwatch, it’s the Apple Watch Series 7 that takes the win!
